At the Junior Economic Club Embracing Diversity and Inclusion Event on November 15th, more than 75 members joined us to hear from speakers Martin Cabrera and Malik Murray on the importance of diversity within both our lives and the workplace.
From our speakers, we learned everything from the importance of showing leadership and courage in fighting for these issues, to how we should challenge the leaders in society to address these issues.
One member noted, “My biggest takeaway was on how each presenter showed the progression of diversity and inclusion by describing it when they were younger at their schools and community but they also in their workplace. Another takeaway from this event was the breakout rooms because it allowed for really powerful and thought-provoking thoughts to be shared.”
As an organization and as members, it is now our duty to take the great lessons we learned from our speakers and apply them to our daily lives to make a greater change throughout the world. JEC has integrated the importance of valuing diversity within our mission and will be holding similar events every two months going forward, all of which are highly recommended for our members.
